I had the pleasure of meeting Jamie Benziger for a lunch in Midtown a little over a year ago! She is passionate about the world of wine, growing up in Sonoma with her family’s two wineries. It was no wonder she was on the path to creating incredible wines just like her family, and she has done just that!

Imagery Winery is all about experimenting with interesting grape varietals, crafting rare wines, and utilizing the vineyards. They seek to produce wines with grape varietals that sometimes get batched into big blends, and their beauty is lost. They seek to bring you those varietals and show you how they shine! I had the pleasure of tasting recently, typical California varietals by Imagery. The 2019 Sauvignon Blanc and the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon are the perfect summer barbecue wines!

2019 Imagery Sauvignon Blanc: Citrus driven and full of honeysuckle notes, this wine is a beauty on a warm summer day! It’s a crisp wine with those usual lemon-lime flavors and grapefruit, with a lively and attractive finish. I love pairing this wine with Grilled Fish and Watermelon Caprese salad! $17

2018 Imagery Cabernet Sauvignon: This is a luxurious wine that is a steal for $20! Bright red and black fruit with oak and silky smooth tannins make this wine extremely attractive. Some sweetness can be detected but it’s nicely integrated with some spice and vanilla, leading to a nice long finish. This wine is perfect with grilled meats and vegetables if you’re hosting on a nice summer evening, however, if you wanted this wine after dinner, it can easily pair with a red berry crostata!

Because of COVID, I have not been having the usual lunches with winemakers, but I am so grateful for Imagery for sending these wines! These are wonderful selections, and I hope to try even more of the portfolio!

Always remember, eat what you like and drink what you love. Please pair responsibly!
