IMG_5723Crystal Head Vodka is more than just a beautiful bottle. In fact, this vodka is not only striking to look at but has a very smooth taste and doesn’t give you that alcohol “burn” that some others do. Why is this? Well, because its just really good vodka.

Crystal Head is great on its own and when mixed into cocktails. At Cherry, NYC we tasted through some incredible cocktails made by Warren Hode. The Rite of Spring cocktail is a refreshing winner. This is made with Cantaloupe, Crystal Head, Lemon, Celery Seed, and Szechuan Peppercorn Leaf. The Bordello cocktail however, is one of my favorites and is made with Crystal Head, Cherry Blossom Agave, Cucumber, and Lime. This drink is perfect for summer and the cherry blossom really pops!

The Saketini is a classic favorite at many Japanese restaurants, and when made with this particular vodka, its smooth, summer like, and clean. Garnished with a cucumber and served chilled, this is a perfect cocktail to begin your evening.

IMG_5748            Paired with all of these creative cocktails was an array of delicious Japanese inspired cuisine with that Cherry flare and uniqueness. The Tuna Pizza with Truffle Oil was up first, which was a great way to begin the evening and get our palates ready for some great courses. The Gyoza with 12 hour, slow cooked Short Ribs and Foir Gras was unbelievable. Sweet, savory, and tangy notes fill your mouth and nose, giving you one incredible appetizer!

Jalapeno Sashimi also graced the table and was the perfect in-between dish to cleanse the palate from the indulgent gyoza and prep us for some fantastic sushi that was about to arrive. This sashimi was not too spicy which was nice, but had a very soft flavor with just the right hint of freshness needed.

IMG_5760     Wooden boards piled high with Eel and Bacon Sushi, Tuna, Salmon, Uni, and some Tempura Shrimp made their way to the table. The sushi here is creative and beautifully presented. For those of you who want to try some Crystal Head for yourself, either head to Cherry for some fun inspired cocktails, or the Chelsea Wine Vault to purchase a bottle of your own!
