Wines For Your Valentine!

Thinking of what to get your Valentine on February 14th? I think wine makes a great Valentines Day gift for any stage in a relationship, whether you are newly dating or have been together for years, nothing says “I want only your happiness” like a great bottle of red, white, or bubbly.

Sparklers

The Grand Vintage Rosé 2006 is an exceptional indulgence that is powerful, sexy, and full of stone fruit. The sophistication and depth in this wine makes it also perfect for Valentines Day for the one you truly love ($90)!

Undertones of brioche and lemon peel with some playful berries make this wine one of those fun sparklers you need for Valentines Day. Whites

10525890tGloria Ferrer Carneros Chardonnay: The 2012 Carneros Chardonnay has bright notes of peach and pineapple followed by some toasty notes. On the palate it’s dry with more stone fruit, citrus and finishes with toasty notes. Normally I wouldn’t pick a chardonnay for Valentines Day, but this one won me over recently and for the chardonnay lover in your life, I think it will win them over too! ($15)

t9554717ci_1Selbach-Oster Riesling: This 2012 German Riesling is bright with floral and stone fruit notes. On the palate it’s dry as it’s a Kabinett Halbtroken (picked when ripe, half dry) and one I think you and your Valentine will love. German Rieslings are fun to discover and analyze with your special someone and pair beautifully with fried food, vegetarian dishes, as well as chicken and seafood! ($19)

Reds

The Federalist Lodi: Both the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon & 2014 Zinfandel are great for the history buff in your life. Not only is there a great picture of Benjamin Franklin as well as George Washington on the bottles, but this wine was created to honor the first American and is a revolutionary wine that you will enjoy with a true American meal.

The Cabernet is dark and intense with blackberry, plum, and currants on the nose, followed by a bold and sexy palate thats perfect to bring you and your sweetie close together for the evening. ($17.76)

The Zinfandel on the other hand has some cinnamon and spice notes, which are known aphrodisiacs. This wine has a long and lasting finish with bright acidity and plenty of aging potential! ($17.76)

untitled_6_5_12012 Loveblock Pinot Noir: This New Zealand wine is a “True Love Story” founded by Erica Crawford. Her husband is Kim Crawford (a wine we know very well) who together they fell in love with the view of Awatere Valley and Erica was inspired to create Loveblock Farm on this wild land. Erica explains, “This wine is one of Depth and Dedication”. This wine even though aged in 11 months older oak, still retains it’s beautiful fruit forward notes with nice acidity and depth. JOSH CELLARS PINOT NOIR 750Josh Cellars: This California wine is created by Joseph Carr who made this label for his Father, a Soldier in the US Army. This wine is perfect for your veterans and those service men and women who you get to spend your life with. ($17-25)

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is made with 5% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot which gives it some smoothness, cooked fruit notes, and purple tones. This deep wine is bold with smooth tannins and plenty of complexity.

The 2014 Pinot Noir is 100% Pinot Noir with aromas of cherry and oak. Rich chocolate intensity on the palate followed by a firm texture and finish. This wine is great for those that do and do not enjoy PN because I guarantee you will love this one!

The Legacy is a combination of 45% Merlot, 45% Zinfandel, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Syrah and is truly an incredible wine. I love this wine and it makes a great gift for the one you love, as the combination of grapes creates structure, acidity, and complexity… some of the qualities in a long lasting relationship!

wine_chiantiSant’ Arturo Wines: “Wine shouldn’t be so serious” is the operating mantra for this boutique wine brand. Arty Dozortsev (founder) aggregates beautiful wines for the most on-trend people in the New York City metro area, solely for enjoying and indulging.

The 2008 Sant’ Arturo Chianti Riserva is from a small producer located in Tuscany that is known for using the best grapes. This wine has a ruby color and has a fruity aromas, but is completely dry. It is packed full of cherry and ripe blueberry flavors with a well structured and full-bodied mouthfeel. The tannins are well-integrated giving this wine a smooth taste that you and your sweetheart will love! ($12.99)
