It may be September but summer is not over! There’s still time to head uptown to Demarchelier Restaurant for their outstanding summer menu through September. This French eatery will wow you with the cool summer cocktails, daily specials, and classic French dishes. This is by far one of my favorite French restaurants in the city, and when you’re here you’re treated like family.

It’s located in a quiet family-friendly Upper East Side neighborhood, where you will find many shops and beautiful architecture. This spot is family-owned and friendly with nice bistro-style seating in the front and more formal seating in the back. Here, I always enjoy a cocktail first, because they have great seasonal specialties. I started with the Provence Martini, which is a gorgeous color purple that comes from the Butterfly Pea Flower. It’s smooth and delicious with a hint of floral aromas that pair nicely with appetizer options including the Avocado Crab Salad! This salad is delicious and perfect to share. They don’t skimp on the crab and avocados, which is wonderful and the presentation is really beautiful. This has become one of my favorite appetizers, and I hope they keep it on the menu as long as possible. Alongside was the Moules Mariniere’s, also known as Mussels in white wine and garlic broth. These are a classic French favorite, especially when dining here. This dish paired well with the Grapefruit and Rosemary Mule, which is a very refreshing cocktail if you’re a mule fan!

One of the summer specials was a Monk Fish, which was lightly fried and perfectly seasoned. This was the first time I have had Monk Fish and it was absolutely delicious. In fact, this was my favorite dish of the evening (besides the Crab Avocado Salad).  I also wanted to try the Duck Confit with white beans, because that’s a French dish I simply can not resist. Demarchelier did not disappoint with this one, because the duck was on point! It was full of flavor and went well with a side of creamed spinach, which I recommend ordering if you like sides.

If you have room for dessert, they offer some wonderful options including an Apple Tarte Tatin, Trou Normand, and more. We decided on some of the house-made sorbets and combined Mango and Raspberry. It was the perfect combination of flavors, paired with a glass of Calvados.

Demarchelier is the perfect spot for a quick bite, romantic evening out, or family meal. It’s a staple restaurant in the Upper East Side and is a favorite among the community. If you find yourself seeking a great restaurant to take family or friends, Demarchelier will please everyone with their service, ambiance, and authentic bistro fare. They keep the classic dishes on the menu year-round, as well as offer daily specials, seasonal fare and more!
