Crown Royal recently introduced the Noble Collection, a limited edition series of whiskies set to be released annually. This collection shows the talent of Crown Royal’s distillers and blenders and is named after the brand’s noble roots. The Cornerstone Blend showcases three whiskies: a spicy Canadian Rye, a creamy whisky from Crown’s Coffey Still, and a bourbon-style Canadian Whisky matured in charred white American oak. These three combined together create The Cornerstone Blend that is Crown Royal’s newest Noble Collection Whisky.
At the event tasting whisky professionals and media such as myself on the Cornerstone Blend was National Brand Ambassador: Stephen Wilson, who took us through tastings of the Cornerstone Blend at the Campbell Apartment in New York City. This gorgeous bar is one to visit when you are in NYC, and for those that live here, it’s a must see. This blended whisky boasts sweet red apples and oaky spice with a slight tartness that provides a nice balance to the taste.
DIAGEO Master of Whiskey, Ryan Ross poured and took us on a tour with samples of the three component whiskies that make up the Cornerstone Blend – the unique Coffey Rye, Canadian Style Bourbon, and Canadian Rye. Tasting the components up against the Cornerstone Blend was such a treat, especially when paired with some of the Campbell Apartment’s fine fare.
The Cornerstone Blend has a nose of cherry pie, spice, and toffee. On the palate the fruity flavors transition into nice woody spice notes that really finish beautifully. This blend is available nationwide in limited quantities and provides Crown Royal’s distillers and blenders to experiment with different techniques to provide unique limited time offerings for whisky lovers!
