IMG_3123Fall and winter are all about comfort food pairings and sharing great wines with the ones you love… well at least those are the things I enjoy doing this chilly time of year. I recently tried the Hess Select 2013 Chardonnay from Monterey, California.

My “pre-disposed college dislike” for California Chardonnay’s has been changing and I find that I have been enjoying them more and more. I have to admit, this buttery chard was intense and aromatic and quite good! This wine is the perfect weeknight sipper while watching some of your favorite fall TV shows.

I paired this wine with two types of Gnocchi, and was pleasantly surprised to find the wine paired beautifully with both. Bacon and Onion Gnocchi with Parmesan and Oil v.s. Avocado and Spinach Pesto Gnocchi. This 2013 Chardonnay is beautiful and bright with striking yellow apple and some citrus. Underlying notes of oak and butter with well balanced acidity and a mouthful of fruit paired perfectly with this meal.

I am excited because Hess Select wines are a great bang for your buck at $10.99+ and are great wines to have on the table for the holiday season.

Always remember, eat what you like and drink what you love… please pair responsibly!
