Brunching at Plan B Tapas!

If you are looking for some of the best brunch in NYC, then head over to Plan B Tapas on Mulberry StreetChef Jhonathan is a master in the kitchen and creates some of the most incredible dishes I have ever tasted. When I found out they were offering brunch, I hopped on my chance to try some of his new creations!

IMG_1281     Plan B now has brunch 7 days a week, which is an amazing concept because those of you who are in the hospitalityIMG_1288 industry, restaurant industry, or simply work weekends, when do you have time to brunch? Now you can any day of the week! Plan B draws you in with Tango Music, comfy leather booths, gorgeous wall art, and delicious aromas that dance all around you as you await your dishes. The cocktails are always inventive, using fresh ingredients and quality spirits. While waiting for my dishes, I sipped on the Sangria which to be honest, topped all sangria I have had so far in NYC. The addition of Apple Liqueur and Orange Curacao add the perfect “zing” to this citrusy drink.

Now onto the food, because Chef’s menu is mouthwatering, genius, and will satisfy every palate preference. I tasted a little bit of everything because it all looked good, and, as always at Plan B, I was blown away.

IMG_1285   The Catalonian Tortilla is smooth, creamy, and packs the perfect paprika punch! Served warm with diced potatoes and Manchego cheese, this dish is out of this world, yum. Accompanying the deliciousness is a tangy Mixed Green Salad with bright cucumbers and a wonderful vinaigrette.

Next came the Shrimp and Polenta Grits, which was one of the first menu items to catch my eye. The Shrimp is perfectly seasoned and packs the IMG_1290perfect kick, while the smooth, cheesy grits intertwine with all the flavors ever so sensually. The best surprise to this dish, which I discovered while trying to pick out all the flavors, was the chunks of roasted garlic. To a foodie like myself, finding surprise, perfectly roasted garlic, hiding in a dish is like Christmas morning, and I was that child ripping open and enjoying this wonderful present!

Chef Jhonathan then brought out the Lberian French Toast, which normally I don’t order for breakfast, but when I go back for brunch next time, it will be one of the dishes I absolutely order again. This dish is creamy, toasted perfectly, and when topped with the Molasses and Port Mixed Berry sauce, it was absolute heaven.IMG_1295

Still working on the cocktail and trying not to slip into foodie coma, I went on to the Spanish Breakfast. This dish is perfect for one if you’re super hungry, but I would recommend sharing so that way you can try more than one dish. The potatoes were perfectly sliced and tasted like thick cut potato chips, which technically they are, but these ones are so much better than your average potato. The fried egg IMG_1297over mixed mushrooms and toasted crostini was creative and fulfilling while on the side, which I thought were roasted tomatoes, was some of the best Chorizo I have ever had, and will absolutely have again next time I go back.

Lastly, but not the least, because this dish is ranked in the top as far as creativity, flavor, and overall deliciousness. The Wild Boar Hash is a must try for this brunch menu. The Boar is cooked IMG_1299perfectly and thinly sliced over a large bed of shredded potatoes that look almost like pasta; it’s very cool. Topping this dish is very nicely seasoned scrambled eggs, making this dish out of this world!

Now that I am reliving my amazing Brunch experience, I am craving to go back as soon as possible! You can’t beat Plan B prices and Brunch 7 days per week especially, because although I had the popular dishes, there is so much more to try. The sandwich selection is to die for, and the Tapas selection is creative and lively. Chef also offers a selection of Oysters and Oyster Shooters that are a fun afternoon treat for any day.

Stop into Plan B soon for Brunch or Lunch for delicious seasonal inspired dishes with a creative flare that you will not find anywhere else in the city. Chef Jhonathan is genius and the team of service staff are delightful, charming, and will make your experience a memorable one.
