Spaghetti Alla Puttanesca is a spicy, tangy, salty pasta sauce and is absolutely delicious! I usually use the typical ingredients when making this sauce which are, tomatoes, olive oil, capers, garlic, anchovies, and parsley.

I decided to pair it with the 2003 Lavacchio Fontegalli by Agricola Lavacchi from Tuscany. This is a super Tuscan blend made of mostly Merlot grapes with some Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon as well. This wine is very aromatic with a lot of plum and dark cherry on the nose. On the palate, the tannins were quite large making it difficult to really taste all the fruit, but the the finish I would say was medium length and fruity.

It was a nice Super Tuscan for the price which retails about $35-$40.00. It went very nicely with my meal considering I thought the tannins were going to be bit much with this dish, but I was pleasantly surprised at the outcome. Once the wine opened up in the glass it became an easier wine to drink and very enjoyable. I let this wine sit for a little while in the decanter which brought out the beauty and the luscious black fruit in the wine that I was expecting.
