Mandolino Ristorante & Pizzeria

I recently tried this delicious casual pizzeria and restaurant right outside Union Square in NYC. Mandolino Ristorante & Pizzeria serves up some incredible dishes that will wow your palate and keep you coming back for more! The restaurant is very casual which makes it inviting for groups as well as weeknight meals. Here you can enjoy an array of Italian favorites such as delectable house-made pizza’s, lasagna, calamari, and so much more.

I started off with a glass of rosé and a plate of Fried Calamari. This combination was perfect since it was one of those very rainy, yet humid Sunday evenings in NYC. They also sneak in some fried zucchini with this dish which is a fun addition to the squid. Alongside the calamari, I also decided to try the Polpetti Alla Luciana (Octopus). This dish is fresh and fragrant with cherry tomatoes, white wine, and toasted bread.

After some appetizers, I enjoyed two pasta dishes (yes, two… I couldn’t resist). The Seafood Pasta was loaded with mussels, prawns, and clams. It is out of this world, delicious if you enjoy seafood and house-made pasta. On the other hand, Mandolino makes the best Lasagna I have ever had. I must admit, I am never one to order lasagna usually while dining out, but something about this one just stood out to me. I am so happy I ordered it because it was honestly the best thing I have ever tasted! I decided to wrap it up after a few mouthwatering bites because I knew I would want it later that evening or the next day (plus I had more coming). The menu here is quite extensive and the pizzas are also what they’re known for. I decided on the Porcina Pizza, with Fior di latte mozzarella, porcini mushrooms, prosciutto, shaved parmesan, truffle oil, basil. It is a must order!

I was so incredibly full from all of the other courses, but as desserts passed by the table to other diners, I simply could not resist. I decided to try the Profiteroles which are a sweet way to end the meal and aren’t too filling to handle after multiple plates. If you’re seeking a casual spot to enjoy delicious Italian favorites in a great area of NYC, then I absolutely recommend you try Mandolino! This restaurant is sure to delight anyone you bring here and will have you returning over and over again.
