Rest, relax and rejuvenate at one of the top spa’s in the world: The Lodge at Woodloch. This beautiful health spa will win your heart, make you happy, and help keep you healthy all year long, no matter what season you visit. For my east coast readers, it’s just a short ride to Hawley, PA (depending where you are on the east coast), and for those elsewhere… it’s totally worth the train or plane ride for a weekend getaway! The spa is perfect for couples, singles, girl’s weekends, relaxing bachelorette parties, birthday’s, and health retreats.

The Accommodations

Last year I visited in the fall, and was eager to check out this one of a kind spa in the winter. I decided to visit The Lodge at Woodloch in January for my birthday, with my mother and twin sister, which quickly turned into the perfect girl’s getaway weekend. The hotel rooms on both sides of the spa have great views. My first visit to The Lodge, I was on the lake side overlooking the fire pit with a patio. This time, I was on the nature path side, where I had beautiful views of the waterfall and bird feeders, which attract the most beautiful seasonal bird’s year round; it’s such a pleasure to wakeup to the sound of a waterfall and birds chirping. What’s so impressive about this top spa, is that they truly think of every detail, from views to serene sounds, and everything in between. The rooms are quiet and serene, and come fully equipped with salt lamps, pillow service, down comforters, double beds, large tv’s, wifi, and spa quality personal care products.

Now, for many of you that do know me or have met me before, you know I have a very hard time relaxing (except during my 15-minute meditation each morning). I am always on the go, cooking for clients, wine tasting, teaching food and wine classes, blogging, attending events, consulting for restaurants, and so much more. This is the one place I actually go to and can relax without a worry, care, or stress in the world. The beauty of The Lodge at Woodloch, is that even the most uptight New Yorker (such as myself) can’t help but relax. The minute I walk through the doors, I am instantly at peace; and it’s truly remarkable.

The Spa

Here they offer an array of spa treatments, including facials, massages, body treatments, wine pedicures, and more. The spa is quiet, relaxing, and immaculately clean. What I find so amazing about Woodloch is that while there are plenty of staff working in this luxurious property, you are never bombarded by people, the staff, and yet always seem to have a plethora of fresh towels, clean robes, teas, citrus water, and so much more. It’s truly such a wonderful and luxurious experience whether you are simply enjoying a day or two in the spa or simply enjoying the outdoor and indoor activities, food, and health treatments. If you’re not into sauna’s and steam therapy, you can enjoy Woodloch’s indoor pool complete with a hot tub attached and massaging therapeutic waterfall, as well as an outdoor hot tub. I really love taking a relaxing soak in the outdoor hot tub because while there, the snow was falling, and it was such a beautiful experience. Last year I enjoyed a 75 minute Beer Massage and Hops Body Treatment, which was a very fun and relaxing afternoon, however this year I decided on a 100- minute Chakra Massage, which I highly recommend for those seeking to balance their energies, cleanse their chakras, and feel ultimately like a new person.

Activities & Amenities

Woodloch also offers plenty of salon services, workout classes, nature walks, and art classes for those who want something other than spa treatments (although you can certainly have both). For my birthday weekend away, I chose to participate in the Winter Foods: Cooking Demonstration with Chef Derick, followed by an Old World v.s. New World Wine Tasting with the Sommelier and Beverage Director Leslie Britt. The amenities at Woodloch are second to none, in that during my stay, the hotel General Manager had a bottle of prosecco delivered to our room for our birthday weekend plus a plate of chocolate covered strawberries and confections. After a delicious dinner that evening, we made sure to enjoy our bottle out by the warm and wonderful fire pit, where blankets were necessary, (due to the season) and the prosecco was a wonderful birthday treat.

The Dining

Besides the wonderful spa treatments, saunas, and entire facility, there are plenty more reasons to visit The Lodge at Woodloch. The meal options are healthy, organic and delicious. The spa has a farm on property you can visit, which is a beautiful walk and something you will very much enjoy. During the spring and summer, you will find Chef’s Table dinner’s with wine pairings in the farm, on a large re-claimed wood table where you can enjoy the beautiful views and farm to table cuisine with wine pairings.

“The food here is absolutely delicious. I enjoyed the lactose free, gluten free, and vegan options very much. For people with allergies, you have plenty of menu items to choose from”- Allyson Lehman
