Hot Pretzels, German Beer, and house made Spaetzle sounds delicious right? For those of you who love IMG_3313German style cuisine, beer, and ambiance, then you will want to check out Bavaria Bier Haus in the Financial District of NYC.  Of course maybe I am a little biased, having lived in Germany for a summer studying wine and eating the delectable cuisine, but luckily for myself and many other German food lovers, Chef brings Germany to NYC.

IMG_3308As I always did in Germany and will continue to do every time I visit this restaurant, I start off with Erdinger Hefe-Weizen. This beer is smooth, creamy, and oh so delicious when paired with the Fresh Soft Pretzel with house made spicy mustard and beer cheese. The fruit forward flavors in the beer really captivate the saltiness of the pretzel and the spiciness in the mustard. The creaminess of the beer smooth’s out the spice, making this one fun pairing!

The Skillet Obatzda aka Spaetzle with cheese is made in house and almost identical to what I devoured plates of in Germany on a daily basis. It’s perfectly prepared, cheesy, and went great with the Erdinger Hefe-Weizen Dark. Alongside the Spaetzle were Brussels Sprouts with Bacon which were out of this world yum! As far as entrée’s go, I wanted to re-live all my delicious memories of my summer abroad, so more traditional dishes had to be ordered. The Sauerbraten is slow cooked and fell apart beautifully, while the Weinerschnitzel was crunchy, tender, and just how I remember it in Koblenz. Now, if you have room for dessert, or decide to go the doggy bag route, then the chocolate fondue is a must have and a decision you will be happy you made!

Bavaria Bier Haus is a great spot for a casual night out and for large groups of friends who want great food, a fun atmosphere, and a splash of German culture.
