Casillero del Diablo: Wines for any occasion!

I have had the pleasure of tasting the wines from Casillero del Diablo winery many times. These wines are available nationwide and even worldwide. From NYC to Aruba, I have enjoyed these wines on numerous occasions, because if you get together with friends a lot, you need a wine that suits a lot of people. I find the wines from Casillero del Diablo offer a wide range of varietals, and expressions from Chile, that appeal to many palates!

During quarantine, Casillero del Diablo held a virtual class on Instagram, where we tasted two expressions from the winery with Jake Pippin, Brand Ambassador. It was a fun tasting, that I knew I would love because I think the reds from this winery are just so approachable taste-wise and price-wise. You can easily find their wines starting at about $13.99 (in NJ) and up. I had the pleasure of tasting the Casillero del Diablo Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon and the Reserva Privada Cabernet Sauvignon.

It was a warm May afternoon, where we joined the brand on Instagram for a delicious tasting. The grapes are grown in excellent soils, while the climate provides great weather year-round for grape growing. The Cabernet Reserva is aged in oak barrels and is deep ruby in color. The nose is intense with cherries and plums, followed by some toastiness. On the palate silky tannins, ripe berries, and a nice balance complete this wine! This wine is ideal for entertaining if you’re hosting a barbecue, as well as to give as a gift when you attend a party this summer. Chilean wines are becoming more and more popular, and people are really enjoying the high quality, wonderful wines from this area of the world.

I really love the wines of Chile, and I loved being able to try the Privada Cabernet as well! This wine is stunning, with delicate aromas of blackberries and blackcurrants, vanilla and cedar. After the IG tasting with Jake, I brought this wine over to my in-law’s house for an evening of Dominican cuisine. This wine paired beautifully with Pernil, Ox-Tails, Shrimp that we enjoyed, which showed how versatile it is. Chilean wines really are, and it was nice to introduce the family to a new wine, that they fell in love with!

If you’re seeking some everyday ideal reds for a party, I absolutely recommend Casillero del Diablo! You will find a wine suitable for anyone at the party with a wide range of expressions they offer.

Always remember, eat what you like and drink what you love. Please pair responsibly!
