“Behold the beauty that is Battello in Jersey City, NJ”!
Battello Restaurant in Jersey City, NJ is a dining destination with stunning views of the New York City skyline. As you enter down by the marina you will notice right away that the restaurant itself is very large but the atmosphere is intimate, warm, and inviting.
Live music fills the room, intricate and modern lighting sets the mood, and you find yourself with the feeling of “not being in NJ anymore”, and yet you are. Battello creates a one of a kind ambiance great for after work drinks, an intimate dinner, and even a celebration such as a wedding, rehearsal dinner, or birthday. When you’re not falling in love with the romance and beauty of it all, you can enjoy sports games in the lounge section where cocktails, beer, and the younger crowd gather to bask in the “city chic” vibe of this hot spot.
Mixology wise, Battello is on top of their game and won me over with the Devil In The Deep cocktail. This one was refreshing with just the right amount of bourbon to kick off the evening. Following my cocktail, I decided to dive into some Steak Tartare topped with a Quail egg and Crostini. Tantalizing aromas of mustard, savory flavors of runny egg yolk, fresh steak, and delicious char to the crostini make this an unforgettable appetizer.
For those of you who enjoy seafood, the Rock Shrimp Polpette is a great choice to share. Four large shrimp spheres breaded and topped with cucumbers, whipped ricotta, and lemon aioli. Pair this with a nice Sauvignon Blanc or un-oaked Chardonnay for a perfect pairing.
Don’t forget to save room for an entrée while you’re here because the options are absolutely mouthwatering. Braised Short Ribs with wilted Swiss Chard, Black Truffle Potato Puree, Horseradish Gremolata, and Spiced Port Reduction hit the table and I was hooked! The juicy short ribs fall apart and intertwine themselves with the creamy truffle puree, making each and every bite a savory sensation of flavors and textures. I paired this entrée with a Torres “Celeste” 2011 Tempranillo; a perfect pairing with a dish like this.
For the grand finale an assortment of desserts had to be ordered. The Chocolate Peanut Butter Bomb with Popcorn Gelato and Caramel Popcorn is a sweet treat with a unique buttery twist. Don’t let the flavors fool you or sway you away, this dessert is outstanding! On a creamier note, the Ricotta Cheesecake with Poached Pears and Toasted Almond Gelato is a classic favorite with a fun and nutty twist. If you want layers upon layers of memorable flavors the Blueberry Parfait with Amaretto Sabayon and Almond Crumble is a must have especially when paired with the Taylor Fladgate Tawny Port.
Planning on a romantic evening for Valentines Day? Battello is great for an evening under the stars with the one you love.
