I had the pleasure of visiting Lodi, California about four years ago, and ever since then, I have been head over heels for Lodi wines! In this wine growing area, you will find many grape farmers as well as winemakers who all get along well. It’s a friendly and fun place to visit with outstanding wines and reasonable prices. They grow many different kinds of grapes in Lodi both native and international varietals which showcase beautifully due to the terroir and climate.
I had the pleasure this year to taste with Lodi winemakers when they came to New York City as well as on a virtual tasting with Snooth Media. These wines are perfect for the upcoming warmer months and here are just some of the wonderful ones I tried!
Acquiesce Winery & Vineyards 2018 Ingénue– A beautiful wine made from 35% Clairette Blanche, 35% Grenache Blanc, 20% Bourboulenc, and 10% Picpoul Blanc. This wine releases next month in July, so be sure to snag a few bottles when you can, because it will also go fast! It’s fresh and mineral driven with striking orchard fruit, flowers, and citrus. It’s a lovely wine that makes a great aperitif as well as can easily pair with seafood! $32
m2 Wines 2018 Vermentino- A bright and crisp wine expressing notes of lemon peel, lime, and yellow apple. On the palate it has great acidity and freshness that’s ideal for summer! Pair this wine with grilled chicken or a nice summer salad, by the pool or on the beach; it’s just one of those wines you can sip all day long. $20

This wine is refreshing and juicy with bright acidity and a lovely finish. A playful wine that’s absolutely one of my favorites, and is also a winery exclusive. $20
Mettler Family Vineyards 2016 Pinotage- A wonderful winery to visit and taste with! This wine is dark and rich with aromas of cherries and ripe berries on the nose. You will notice a touch of smoky oak followed by medium-plus body and a lot of fruit. There is a nice balancing earthiness with this wine as well, and only 350 cases were produced! $25
PRIE Winery 2016 Ancient Vine (1900), Block 4 Spenker Ranch Carignane– Carignane is a wonderful varietal that grows well in Lodi. It’s a Spanish varietal that’s also planted in France.
